Newcastle Great Room & Dining Nook

Mission: Update & bring client’s modern glam style to the main level spaces

The Inspiration

We designed the great room and dining nook to coordinate with the clients’ newly remodeled white kitchen. Since the white kitchen along with the new gray flooring and light gray walls were starting to make the area feel one-dimensional, we used furniture and décor to bring warmth and soft colors into the great room and dining nook. We updated the dated built-in and fireplace by having a carpenter add trim to reshape both areas and then we painted the built-in a bold blue gray and the fireplace white for a classic look. The inspiration for this project was our clients’ love for Hollywood regency style. We gave the spaces more of a modern glam vibe with gold & metallic accents, velvet furnishings, and an Art Deco mirror above the fireplace mantle. But we still kept everything family friendly and casual.

“The highlight of this project is updating the built-in and fireplace to give it a more modern, streamlined look with strategic carpentry and paint since it was not in the budget to rip everything out and create a new built-in or new fireplace mantle.” - Lelia
