Mill Creek Foyer & Gatsby-Style Lounge Room

Mission: Give the foyer a stylish first impression & transform the formal living room into a cozy lounge & library room

perfect timing

During the pandemic lockdown, the clients were tired of living with the green and brown walls in their home (painted by the previous owners) and were more than ready for a home makeover. They were also ready to get rid of all their hand-me-down furniture and have appropriate pieces that fit their style and home. The formal living room (which leads into the dining room) was empty except for a couple of bookcases and kids’ toys. After expressing that they like to entertain and have dinner get-togethers with the hope of doing so again when the pandemic is over, we decided to turn the formal living room into a beautiful lounge/library with a bar cabinet and bookcases filled with books.

MID-CENTURY MODERN INSPIRATION

Our clients like mid-century modern style and were open to bold colors for a feature wall so we played that up in the lounge room. The end result was a bright and airy foyer and dining area juxtaposed with a cozy, inviting Great Gatsby-like lounge & library. After dinner, the clients and their friends/family can now hang out in the lounge room for a nightcap. This young family also loves to read so they can cozy up on the leather sofa with a good book anytime!

“I loved everything about this project! If I had to choose, my favorite parts were all the fun and dramatic lighting fixtures we got to install in the spaces and the commissioned original artwork by a Seattle artist that was done for the dining room. I had a blast working with the artist to come up with a three-series piece that reflected the overall design of the project and the clients’ love for the beach and ocean.”
